BESTEEL Framing FAQs
1. Is BESTEEL Framing expensive compared to other framing systems?
No - Our innovative FRAME-TEK design and detailing system ensures economical use of Bluescope™ Truecore™ framing material, ensuring that our frames are very competitive for cost effective building.
2. When I build with BESTEEL Framing how much design flexibility do I have?
BESTEEL Truecore™ framing is 100 % Recyclable and is one of the most environmentally friendly house framing systems in the world. Millimeter precise construction ensures minimal waste on or off site. No timber means no trees are cut down. By using Steel framing you have the benifit of Optimum Design Freedom;
Steel framed buildings ensure greater choice of structural designs. This provides excellent spanning capabilities of roof trusses and the ability to create open space contemporary designs with slender wall frames, reducing the need for intermediate columns or load bearing walls. BESTEEL Frames using Truecore™ make construction of complex shapes such as curved roofs easy, resulting in cutting edge designs at a fraction of the cost and time required when using conventional materials. Additions are relatively easy to make, the bonus being that the original steel structure will be straight regardless of age, making the job of lining up the extension that much easier.

3. As an owner builder can I erect a BESTEEL Frame?
Yes - Our building framing is pre-assembled and is clearly marked; provided you can read a simple drawing you will have no trouble at all, and if you do have problems we are only a phone call or email away.
4. BESTEEL framing appears to be very thin; is the frame strong?
Definitely - The frame is strong as it is rolled in a particular way, this gives the cross section added strength; additionally you have the knowledge that all our frames are engineered and checked by consulting structural engineers.
5. Can I use BESTEEL Frames in cyclone Areas?
Yes - you can, we simply have to increase our design and tie down engineering strengths to suit any cyclone area.
6. I’ve been told that Steel Framing makes a noise during extremes of temperature?
No - This is an old wives tale; with the advances in design and engineering we have built hundreds of house frames and we encounter no more noise than any conventionally framed houses; if it was true people would not build office blocks or homes in steel!
7. Is BESTEEL Framing more suited to concrete slab on ground construction, or pier footings?
Both - Our framing is more than suitable for both types of construction; we can fabricate the piers and floor as a part of our system with no difficulty.
8. When BESTEEL Framing expands and contracts will the internal linings crack?
No - It is highly unlikely as steel expands and contracts at a similar rate to most other building materials and of course, you have the added benefit that the frame won’t shrink over time.
9. When I use BESTEEL Framing will my frame rust?
No- We use high tensile Bluescope™ Truecore™ Steel which is coated in zinc and comes with a 50 year warranty. Remember there are a lot of steel roofs on houses that have been exposed to the elements for well over 50 years and they don’t rust.
10. Am I safe if my house is struck by Lighting or exposed to electrical wiring?
Yes - You are safe as the steel frame is earthed and, as an added safety measure, all new houses by law must be fitted with circuit breakers.
11. BESTEEL Framing is competitive with other framing systems, but are following trades such as Electricians & Plumbers more expensive?
No - Following trades will not be more expensive as frames are pre-punched for services, we can install any noggins to any predetermined position during fabrication and with modern technology, most linings can be fixed using a nail gun with special nails.
12. Will BESTEEL Framing be approved by local councils and lending authorities?
Yes - We provide an Engineers Design Certificate (Form 15) prior to manufacturing for presentation to Council for approval to build, and an Engineers Frame Certificate (Form 16) on request, on completion of all frames and structural onsite work.
As this (Form 16) entails a site visit by the certifier there would be an added cost involved for certification. You will incur this cost regardless of us providing the service, or you arranging a private certifier yourself as it is a Council requirement before final approval to proceed.

13. Can I get easily organised home loans from lending authorities?
Yes - In fact it is becoming an advantage to use Steel framing as it cannot be attacked by termites. Termite damage is uninsurable, the last thing a lending authority (and you) need is a house that has been attacked by termites which will then have to be repaired at your expense.

14. What are the Insurance Options with BESTEEL Steel Framing?
As a family owned business we have carried out research in this area for our own peace of mind. Information we have gathered is fairly inconclusive; some insurance companies are indicating that houses constructed with steel frames and steel roofs may in the future have a better rating and a lesser premium, however, we have been told at present each case will be considered on its own merit, along with all other factors used by insurance companies to provide quotes. Ask your insurer what difference it will make having a steel framed building, it can't hurt!!
